Anthony and Jeffrey didn’t need to travel far for their wedding. The couple, who both live in Cardiff, built the day around the city they already know and love, choosing locations that felt familiar rather than performative. Looking at them, you could almost hear it: “We wanted our location to feel very us - a bit wild, natural and romantic.” It was always going to be here.

Their blessing took place at St John The Baptist City Parish Church, one of the oldest buildings in Cardiff, dating back to the 12th century. Set right in the centre of the city, the church carries a quiet sense of history — stone walls, filtered light, and a kind of stillness that naturally settles the room. For Anthony and Jeffrey, this wasn’t just part of the day — it was the part that mattered most. For a lot of couples, standing here isn’t something you assume will happen — and they knew exactly what it meant.

To stand there together and receive that blessing, in a space like this, wasn’t something they took lightly. And when it finally happened, it felt like time slowed down around them, the rest of the room falling away for a second as they stood there together, not quite ready to let it pass.

From there, the celebrations continued at The Parkgate Hotel on Westgate Street, a relatively new addition to Cardiff’s hotel scene, set within the city’s former Head Post Office and County Court buildings. The shift in setting felt effortless: from the scale and history of the church to the warmer, more intimate atmosphere of the reception. Guests moved easily between spaces, drinks in hand, conversations stretching late into the evening. Housed within these grand civic buildings, the hotel carries a certain weight of its own — high ceilings, Art Deco detailing, and a sense of quiet polish that makes it feel both considered and lived-in. It was, in many ways, exactly the kind of celebration that felt true to them from start to finish — relaxed, considered, and entirely their own.
